One of the improvements in the 2021.5 release of ON1’s plugins is batch processing from Lightroom. You can choose a set of of photos in Lightroom and push them through ON1 plugins in an automated fashion. The summary of batch editing with ON1 plugins is:

  1. Select two or more photos in Lightroom

  2. Choose an ON1 plugin from the File > Plug-in Extras menu.

  3. In the Export Options popup, choose either Pause on First Photo or Pause on All Photos.

    1. For ON1 Portrait AI, you can also choose Use AIAuto For All Found Faces to automatically apply AI adjustments to people in your photo.

  4. Edit your photo in the ON1 plugin.

  5. Click Done and return to Lightroom

ON1 has implemented this in a very slick way. In the “Pause on First Photo” workflow, your custom edits in ON1 are automatically applied to the remaining photos in your selection. If you chose Pause on All Photos, you can apply custom edits to each photo serially.

I think the “Pause on First Photo” workflow is much more compelling. Batch processing is usually done to a set of similar images, or to a set of photos you want to have a similar look. Pausing on the first photo lets you refine the look and mood in the ON1 plugin. Then, let the machine do the work for you on the rest of the images in the selection.

The Batch Options for ON1 Plugins in Lightroom, using the Smart Photo option.

Lightroom shows batch progress in the upper left corner as selected photos are pushed through the ON1 plugin.

When the batch is complete, the automated edits are added to your Lightroom catalog, just like any other plugin roundtrip.

Couple batch editing with the Smart Photo feature of ON1’s plugins! After the batch is complete, you still have the option to re-edit a Smart Photo and fine-tune the look. If you are like me and use ON1 plugins with Lightroom, give batch editing a try. It’s a great time-saver that streamlines your workflow.
