Foreground And Background Separation With Luminosity Masks

Today’s photo isn’t a particularly strong image. However, it does illustrate a situation we encounter often in our landscape photography. Flat lighting often leads to a foreground subject getting lost in the scene. A subject can blend into the background too much, reducing the depth and visual impact. See how I use a pair of luminosity masks to compensate for poor lighting and increase foreground and background separation.
