Embracing High Contrast - In Post #514
If you are a landscape photographer, you’re familiar with this scenario … you find an interesting composition, but the light is harsh! I had this happen on Cobble Beach recently. I took the photos because I was there and in post-processing wondered … what can I do with them?
Very quickly into the post-processing, I switched thinking from color to black and white, making the scene about shape and form. I embraced the high contrast. Surprisingly, only the extreme highlights are blown out - all of the shadow detail is there. Watch the short video to see the transformation of this photo.
