Bamboo Grove In Arashiyama

No trip to Kyoto is complete without a visit to the Bamboo Grove. A short train ride outside of the city to Arashiyama, and you're transported to another world. This is another location that will be coming to a future In The Field video. Stay tuned!

And if you're visiting Kyoto, go to the grove really early to beat the crowds. I visited the bamboo grove twice. Once in the early morning when just a few intrepid visitors were there. Then, a second time mid-morning with my entire family. It is less tranquil as the daily visitors come through (although still peaceful).
