Landscape Photography Is About Patience - In The Field #501
Landscape photography is quite often about patience and perseverance. Not every outing is an epic trek or an arduous sojourn to the far reaches of the earth. Quite often, making the great landscape photo is a waiting game. On my last trip to La Jolla, California I had my composition set up less than 20 minutes after arriving on location.

Then the waiting game begins. Waiting is especially true for seascapes. Each set of waves is different and the tide is always changing. Having a second camera with you to photograph other subjects helps pass the time.

It took an hour or two of waiting until the tide reached the right level, the right set of waves rolled in, and they mixed with the land in just the right way. And when all of that finally happens … that’s the reward for all that patient waiting. Make sure you’re ready with that remote trigger.
