Hikes Don’t Get Better Than This - In The Field #507

Oh, MAN! Hikes do not get any better than this. After taking in the sunrise, I continued my hike in the Laguna Mountains to the top of Garnet Peak.

Even before reaching the peak, the views along the Garnet Peak Trail. The clouds kept the temperatures cool, painting and repainting the rolling hills in ever-changing light. Those moments, when the light was bright and contrasty, made for interesting infrared captures.

On the final leg of the trail, just before the ascent to Garnet Peak, I had to stop. Mother Nature was putting on a dazzling show of sunbeams and color. The peak itself proved a wonderful subject, towering above the valley floor. If there ever was a scene for an epic selfie, this was it. Yeah… I couldn’t resist.

I reached the summit of Garnet Peak just a few minutes later. The views were equally beautiful. The sky simply did not quit. Wave after wave of sunbeams cutting through the sky to the valley below. Also interesting were the views of the rolling hills. I’ve not been to a Palouse region of Washington. It’s a paled comparison, yet it was those pastoral scenes that ran through my mind as I looked out over the Sawtooth WIlderness.

It will be several months at least before the summer heat yields and desert hikes return to my activities list.  don’t know if I’ll ever witness a sky like that again in such a dramatic location. I’m looking forward to trying, though!
