The Colosseum

The Colosseum, Rome, Italy

No trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Colosseum. I recommend visiting in the day to tour the inside, then returning at night for photography. As dusk overtakes Rome, the arches of the arena are lit up, making for a much more interesting photo. And the crowds are gone, too. Although a few people out in front add a good sense of scale.
