ThinkTank Airport Advantage Review

Watch my review of the ThinkTank Airport Advantage travel camera bag.

I think all photographers agree that keeping your gear with you on a plane is of the highest importance. Unless you’re checking gear in a sturdy hard case (think Pelican cases) you want your stuff with you. I needed a new travel bag and tried the ThinkTank Airport Advantage last month. As my gear has grown, I outgrew my Urban Approach 15. I needed a new “Point A to Point B” camera bag.

Watch the video above or read on for my thoughts on this bag.

The short version - the ThinkTank Airport Advantage is a winner. I’m looking forward to my next trip, knowing I’ll have no issues keeping my gear with me onboard.

The ThinkTank Airport Advantage stows a lot of gear.

I tried out the ThinkTank Airport Advantage on several flights last month. Summed up - it’s great. It is sturdy and well built, rolls smoothly, and fits easily in the overhead bin of a plane. It also fits in the smaller overhead compartments on regional flights. That’s a big plus for me.

The interior is configurable. You can reorganize the padded dividers to suit the gear you need to bring. I fit two full-frame Sony A7Rii cameras w/ lenses mounted, another 70-200 long lens, a third Sony A6000 camera, and my filter kit with no problem. I also packed in loads of accessories – Platypod w/ a small ballhead, LumeCubes, batteries, cables, memory cards – the list keeps going. Even with all that in there, my 13” MacBook Pro slipped comfortably into the padded outer sleeve.

Configure the ThinkTank Airport Advantage to your needs with the padded, movable dividers.

All my gear fits snugly and securely in the ThinkTank Airport Advantage.

There was room for more, too. The zipper pouches on the inside of the bag flap held more cables and other accessories.

If you are in the market for a travel camera bag to get your gear safely from home to destination and back, check out the ThinkTank Airport Advantage.
