A Local Meetup and A Busted Sunset

Foamy Surf at Windansea Beach, La Jolla

Over the weekend I met up with a few local San Diego photographers, Terry Sutlick, Alexander Kunz and John Scherer for some shooting at Windansea Beach. Until this meetup, Terry, Alex and John have been virtual G+ friends – and it took Terry leaving for Wisconsin to finally meet him. Safe travels, Terry.

The sunset was largely a bust. A cloudless sky started to fill in a couple of hours before sunset. And then it filled it too much, quickly casting much of the shoreline in shadow. I grabbed the frame above about 5 minutes while the soft, golden light was still lingering around. On the upside, storms in the South Pacific made from some choppy surf and a few 5-6 foot waves. I took some photos of the rough surf, too, just haven't gotten to working on them.

I processed this photo in Aperture and onOne Perfect Effects, using a variation of one of the presets in an onOne preset pack I'm slowly assembling.
