Fire And Rebirth

I took this photo in the late 1990s, the days of film. Wildfires are a part of life in the Southwest. I found this tree very interesting, its scarred, lifeless skeleton a harsh contrast to the green scrub brush. I remember taking this shot vividly. On an aimless drive through the desert I saw the tree. I pulled over and lied down in the sand, shooting upward, giving the tree a much larger presence in the frame.
