The Grottos Of Lagos

The Grottos of Lagos

I almost missed the staircase at the top of the Ponte de Piedade that leads to the base of the grottos. I didn't know it existed! On the night prior to this shot I had a disappointing outing to the point and came back more or less empty handed. Well... the hike was good, but the photos weren't.

The next day, while on a boat tour of the grottos, the guide pointed out the staircase. There's a staircase!?!? I headed back to Ponte da Piedade on what was my last night in Lagos in search of the staircase. I'm so glad I did! On a moonlit night, the tide low, the grottos become an extra special place.
