Check White Balance in Aperture Before Fixing Blown Highlights

One of the first things I do in the Adjust stage of my workflow is check the hot and cold areas. My first instinct for blown highlights was to reach for the recovery slider in the Exposure brick ... until yesterday. The sky colors in a recent moon rise shot looked wrong to me - not at all what I saw on scene. Correcting the white balance also addressed the blown highlights.

After that, it was on to simple fun with Perfect Layers to blend two shots together for a more artistic rendering of the moon rise. Enjoy the video.
