Lone Soul

An exceptionally foggy morning in the valleys near Lake Hodges in San Diego, California.

The "funny" story behind this shot. It's not at all what I set out to shoot last Sunday morning. I'd headed far south in San Diego County, within a mile or two of the border with Mexico... only to find an access road blocked, cutting me off from my chosen location. I meandered up the Coronado strand without the muse striking.

About two hours into this pre-dawn journey, I resigned to a morning without a photo and started heading home. A crazy-thick fog filled a few valleys as I drove back toward home. I decided to head to a valley near Lake Hodges that was blanketed in a great fog. The amazing part... less than a mile away was completely clear and sunny.
