Color Grading Balance & Blending Sliders - What's The Difference?

In this video, let’s understand the differences between the Blending and Balance sliders in the Color Grading tool in Lightroom. In brief:

  • Balance controls the bias of the tint toward the selected shadow or highlight tint. Negative values add more shadow tint, positive values add more highlight tint. (This works just like Split Tone has for years.)

  • Blending controls how aggressive or subtle the shift is through the tints in the Color Grading tool. Low values produce crisper transitions and higher values yield smoother, subtler transitions. See the screenshots below.
