Brugge

I'm arm-chair traveling today, reminiscing about a trip to Belgium a few years ago. I really like the quaint architecture of Brugge. A snap of the main square on a lovely summer's day.

Brugge, Belgium

The main square is quite touristy now, of course. Out of the frame is the line-up of horse drawn carriages that will take you on a short tour of the city center.

I was told the steps on the tops of the buildings are some kind of status symbol. The more steps, the more affluent the owners. Does anyone know if that's true?
