Aperture 3.4, Keywords & PhotoStream

I've previously reported on this blog about issues with PhotoStream and keywords, where images coming in via PhotoStream munge up your keyword hierarchy. PhotoStream isn't the only offender in this regard, but the most annoying IMHO as there's no controls to clear keywords on import.

With Aperture 3.4, things have gotten better. Last night, a few photos from PhotoStream hit my Aperture Library. I went to the keywords HUD to tidy things up and I was pleasantly surprised that the "(Imported Keyword)" messiness was gone. And, looking at the photos in PhotoStream, none showed keywords. Apparently Aperture 3.4 is stripping out keywords for photos coming in via PhotoStream.

For me, this is goodness - and it's nice to find a bit of goodness in Aperture 3.4 as it's otherwise been a very buggy release.

Although, I think it would best be served for Aperture to give us a checkbox in the Preferences to decide if keywords should or shouldn't be pulled in via PhotoStream. I can see workflows other than mine where having the keywords come in would be useful.
